Following on from the Honour of receiving the Queens Award
for Services to the Community, the SOLVE IT team were invited
to the Barclaycard / Northants 96 Making Difference Awards,
at Sedgebrook Hall.
The award ceremony was preceded by a dinner reception for
Barclaycard, Northants 96 staff and representatives from the
9 good causes who had made the final of a competition that
involved radio listener voting for the charity that could
best spend the top prize of £10,000 for the good of
the community.
In best traditions of the Oscar ceremony, following the dinner
the winners were read out in reverse order, all of whom received
cash prizes ranging from £1,000 to the top prize.
SOLVE IT went through to the final 2 entries and then were
announced as overall winners.
Steve Lambert from SOLVE IT said, "This has just been
a perfect week, like everyone else in the sector you just
get on and try and do your best, but when that work is acknowledged
not just once but twice, it gives you an extra boost. There
were a lot of good causes there that evening, and I am pleased
that they all got something."
SOLVE IT will spend the prize money on producing a life skills
workbook for young people to help them make decisions in life
with regard to Solvent and Volatile Substance Abuse. |
