The service provision provided by SOLVE IT is unique, working in partnership with the statutory and voluntary sector.
Although primarily a universal education and awareness service provision, in and out of the school setting, it is designed to identify and access children, young people and families who are vulnerable or at risk.
The awareness and educational programmes used, targeting specific age groups are designed to increase knowledge and understanding, change attitude and increase life skills. The transition from primary to secondary school level is a particularly vulnerable time for children and young people. Therefore by continually increasing their knowledge, understanding, changing attitude and giving them the necessary skills to enable them to make informed, potentially life changing decisions, we hope to divert those who are particularly at risk of becoming involved in VSA.
By preventing children and young people becoming problematic VSA users we can reduce the possible risk of them becoming involved in crime. This would impact on the harm that this particular type of substance abuse can cause to the individual, their families and communities.
