TRAINING AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Training is designed to provide an opportunity to develop understanding and an ability to respond to:

• VSA* amongst young people in a range of settings including, schools, residential homes, secure units and young offenders institutes
• The impact of VSA on the individual, the family and community

By the end of the training, participants will have a good understanding of:

• The issues in relation to young people and VSA
• The prevalence of VSA
• What products are abused
• Possible reasons for abuse
• Methods of abuse
• The effects and consequences of VSA
• The signs and symptoms of abuse
• Knowledge of emergency action.
• Legislation in relation to VSA
• Harm minimisation
• Where to access support

Training is tailored in time and content to compliment individual requirements
